Rowan weather: Cool today, then warming

Well, we’re back to winter, at least for part of the day. It started out around the freezing mark, but will be partly sunny and warm to a high of 65.

Winds will come from the south at 5-7 mph this afternoon.

A 20 percent chance of rain is possible tonight, mostly between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m., then a few showers and then, patchy fog. It will be mostly cloudy with a low of 49.

Tuesday’s chance of showers and thunderstorms is 30 percent, with most in the afternoon. It will be mostly cloudy and 72, with south southwest wind at 5-8 mph in the afternoon. Expect less than a tenth of an inch of rain, except in thunderstorms.

Then the chance of showers and storms drops to 20 percent. Tuesday night. It will be mostly cloudy with a low of 59. South southwest winds will continue at 6-9 mph.

The weather may turn severe Wednesday, although the chance of rain during the day is 40 percent. Thunderstorms are possible after 1 p.m. It will be mostly cloudy and very warm, with a high of 79. Southwest wind will blow at 10-18 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.

Nighttime is when we could see severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and hail. The chance is 60 percent. It will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 46.

Thursday, though, will be mostly sunny and cooler, with a high of 60. A clear night will lead to a low of 34.

Friday will be sunny and 57. Some of those blooming plants could suffer Friday night, when the low will dip to 29 degrees.

Saturday will be sunny and 58 again, with a low of 36.

Sunday will be mostly sunny and 68.
