Rowan Rotary proud of Service Above Self

I would like to thank Ms. Carol Cauble for praising the Service Above Self program in her letter to the editor published by the Post on Tuesday.

She stated that this project was sponsored by the Civitans, and while the Civitan civic clubs are outstanding and sponsor many noteworthy community projects, I would like to respectfully correct this. Service Above Self is sponsored by the Rowan Rotary Club, United Way of Rowan County and Cheerwine.

Ms. Cauble was correct in stating that the program recognizes hundreds of elementary, middle and high school students each year for their community service. Thank you, Ms. Cauble — these students deserve to be praised for giving of themselves to help others in need in our community.

Rowan Rotary, United Way of Rowan County and Cheerwine depend upon many teachers, counselors, principals, parents, grandparents and others to nominate these children and youth for recognition. It is not too early to nominate an individual or group for next year’s Service Above Self Awards. Go to rowanserviceaboveself.com and complete a nomination today. It only takes a few minutes and you will make a difference in a child’s life!

Thank you again, Ms. Cauble, for your kind words about the Service Above Self program.
