2017 IMF Treasure Feamster Scholarship

The Interdenominational Ministers Fellowship (IMF) Scholarship Committee is accepting applications for the 2017 IMF Treasure Feamster Scholarship. Applications will be received through April 3, 2017 and must be postmarked by this date. The scholarships are available for high school seniors, who are members of an IMF affiliated church, regardless of their chosen field of study. High school seniors can check with their Guidance Office or affiliated churches for applications or information. Union Chapel AME Zion 6th Annual GospelFest today 

CHURCHLAND — The Steward Board of Union Chapel AME Zion Church, 4329 Sowers Road, will observe its 6th annual GospelFest today at 6 p.m. This is the rescheduled date from Jan. 7 due to inclement weather. Groups planning to attend are The Zionettes from Churchland, The Disciples of Joy of Salisbury, AKB of Winston Salem, Remant from Charlotte, Unity N Praise of Salisbury, Candice Archie of Winston Salem, New Hope Praise Team fromLexington and more. The guest emcee will be Roland Carter.

 

Appreciation service at Ambassador Christian

Bishop Harvey Rice of the Mt. Calvary Holy Church will be the speaker for an appreciation service for Rev. John L. Krider, tonight, 7:30 p.m. at the Ambassador Christian Church, 726 Lincolnton Road.

 

Souper Bowl of caring at Mt. Zion UCC 

CHINA GROVE — During the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service church at Mount Zion UCC, 1415 S. Main St., family and friends will share in the Souper Bowl of Caring program.  Bring a donation for the soup pot and a canned good for the Scouting For Food Boy Scout bag.  All proceeds will go to the main Street Mission.

Guest speaker at St. Luke Missionary Baptist

On Sunday the guest minister for St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Hawkinstown will be the Rev. Dr. Ethel Bamberg-Revis. She is a full-time chaplain at the VAMC-Salisbury, and is also assistant pastor at Soldier’s Memorial AME Zion Church in Salisbury. Chaplain Bamberg-Revis came to Salisbury in 1993 from Hackensack, New Jersey. She is a graduate of Hood Theological Seminary with a Master’s degree, and she earned her doctorate at Graduate Theological Foundation.

 

Immanuel Lutheran offers Trilogy study

ROCKWELL —Immanuel Lutheran is studying the trilogy of Faith, Hope and Love. The theme for this week’s worship service is Hope. To augment this study, the newly revised Immanuel Lutheran Church Chancel Choir (I-L-Triple C) will provide special music under the direction of Dr. Wayne (“Dr. Rob”) Robertson, and Christy Trexler will sing a solo. The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be administered.  The Rev. Bruce Sheeks is host pastor.

 

SCWU annual meeting

The Salisbury Rowan Church Women United will hold its annual meeting on Sunday from 3-4:30 p.m. at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, 719 S.  Caldwell St. Guest speakers will be Mayor Karen Alexander and Mayor Barbara Mallett. The Valiant Woman Award will be presented and light refreshments will be served. We will be receiving personal hygiene articles, Kleenex tissues, shampoo, shaving cream, lotion, to be given to nursing homes.

 

Winter revival at Ardis Chapel AME Zion 

Ardis Chapel AME Zion Church, 1940 Old Mocksville Road, will be having a Winter Revival from Feb. 6-8 starting at 7 p.m. Elder Dr. Calvin Miller will be the guest preacher each night. Elder Miller is the Presiding Elder of the Winston-Salem District.

 

Men’s breakfast/Bible study

Church of Christ, 700 W. Thomas St., will host a men’s breakfast and Bible study Saturday, Feb. 11 from 9-11 a.m. All men are welcome.

Anniversaray at Macedonia Missionary Baptist

CONCORD — Celebrate the 20th pastoral anniversary of  Pastor Rev. John N. Leazer and First Lady Darlene Leazer with a pre-anniversary celebration on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 5 p.m. with the Rev. Vincent Tillman and The Life Giving Church of God  Concert Choir of Concord, DIVINITY of Charlotte, featuring Teresa Butler and Angelette Parks , the Rev. Darrick Leak and Judah House of Praise Choir of Kannapolis and The Praise Team of Macedonia Baptist Church featuring Sis. Denise Butler.

The celebration continues Feb. 12 at 11 a.m. with  Elder Michael Massey,  Presiding Elder AME Zion Church Rockingham District; and at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Peter Wherry of Mayfield Memorial Baptist Church, Charlotte.
