SALISBURY — The fourth annual Wine About Winter is quickly approaching, and tickets are going just as fast.

Wine About Winter, a Downtown Salisbury Inc. event, brings people from all over to visit downtown shops for wine tastings.

The event is Feb. 3.

According to Katelin Rice, promotions coordinator, this year’s event will feature 38 locations and a new selection of white and red wines. Wines from Old Stone Winery and Cauble Creek Vineyard will be included. Morgan Ridge Railwalk Brewery and Eatery, which opened at 421 N. Lee St. in September, will be one of the stops on the crawl.

All of the wines featured will be available for purchase at Salisbury Wine Shop, 106 S. Main St.

A souvenir wine glass, walking map and tasting pass are included in the ticket price. Instead of the wine glass holders given out last year, tasters will receive a Sommelier corkscrew.

The locations featured on the crawl will be divided into districts and color-coded on a map. Those who visit at least four stops in each district can return their maps to 204 E. Innes St. to be entered into a drawing for prizes such as Downtown Dollars or a gift basket.

Rice said the drawing is an extra incentive for visitors to explore shops they might not visit otherwise.

“We want people to explore all of downtown,” Rice said.

The trolley will run throughout the event, and food trucks will be open.

Rice said people are coming from Greensboro, Asheboro and Huntersville, to name a few places.

Ticket sales have already exceeded last year’s total, when about 800 people attended. Organizers expect 1,000 or more this year.

Rice said Wine About Winter makes for a great date night, hangout with friends or opportunity for wine lovers to try new wines.

The event is also good exposure for new and current businesses.

Rice said there are still tickets left and they can be purchased in advance. There are only a few hotel packages left for those traveling from out of town. Tickets also will be sold on the day of the event if still available.

Tickets are $22.50 in advance and $30 if purchased at will-call in the lobby of 204 E. Innes St. on Feb. 3. Will-call will open at 4 p.m.

Additional fees and taxes are not included.

The locations and selection of wines will soon be posted on Downtown Salisbury’s website, app and social media pages.

Attendees must be 21 or older and provide valid photo identification to redeem tickets.
