Police looking for suspects in two weekend robberies

SALISBURY —  Police investigators are looking for suspects involved in two weekend robberies at two different convenience stores.

Police say someone entered the front door of Pop Shoppe, 1831 W. Innes St., about 8 p.m. Saturday armed with a handgun. The male suspect jumped over the counter, pointed the gun at the clerk and demanded money.

The clerk opened the cash drawer and the suspect grabbed an undisclosed amount of money. The man ran from the store toward West Innes Street.

The suspect is a black male who was wearing a black or dark blue hooded sweatshirt with red stripes on the side and top of the shoulders, as well as black pants, black shoes and a blue bandana over his face.

According to Police Capt. Shelia Lingle, the second robbery occurred at 9:38 p.m. Saturday at D Mart, 1600 S. Main St.

Two people are wanted in this robbery.

B Ave. The descriptions of the suspects are two black males, slim build,  age 20-30, around 5-foot-9.

The two men entered the store and could be seen in surveillance video ducking down an aisle and approaching two clerks who were restocking shelves and sweeping.

A second clerk told police he hit him in the back of the head with a beer can and one suspect fired the gun, grazing the clerk’s arm. The suspect then grabbed money out of the cash register, and the two suspects ran from the store towards West B Avenue.

Both suspects in the D Mart robbery are black males with slim builds, between 20 and 30 years old, and about 5 foot 9 inches tall. One suspect was wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt and jeans and his face was covered with a black bandana. The other suspect wore a zippered black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. The second suspect had red and white designs on his sweatshirt on the front and back. Both men were wearing black gloves.
