N.C. Department of Transportation contractors must close a portion of Daugherty Road between China Grove Road and Old Linn Road for a bridge replacement project on I-85 near China Grove.

The portion of roadway will be closed starting at 6 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21. Work will wrap up by Wednesday, Aug. 9.

Drivers can use Bostian Road, Old Beatty Ford Road, Lentz Road and China Grove Road (alternative) to detour around the closure.

Transportation officials remind motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.

For real-time travel information, visit DriveNC.gov or follow NCDOT on Twitter.

NCDOT will temporarily close sections of Interstate 85 between Exit 68 (US 29/China Grove) and Exit 63 (Lane Street) over the coming weeks in order to remove the existing bridge over I-85 at Daugherty Road.

Note that the below schedule has both partial and full lane closures on different dates of either the Northbound or Southbound lanes.

During the periods of a full closure an off-site detour will be in place from I-85 Exit 68 via US 29 to Lane Street to I-85 at Exit 63 (see attached map).
