SALISBURY — The Salisbury Post this month made changes to its news staff that include a promotion and a new hire.
Reporter Josh Bergeron has been named associate editor, and Bobby Parker has joined the news staff.
Bergeron, Parker and Editor Elizabeth Cook are picking up duties that had been carried out by Scott Jenkins, news editor, who left the Post in November to become editor of The Dispatch in Lexington.
“We were sorry to see Scott go, but the top newsroom position at The Dispatch was an offer he could not refuse,” Cook said. “I am confident we have put together a strong team to carry the Post forward.”
Bergeron, 24, joined the Post as a reporter in 2014 to cover politics and county government. As associate editor, he will continue reporting as he takes on other layout and organizational duties.
A graduate of Louisiana State University, Bergeron worked at the Natchez Democrat in Mississippi and the Selma Times-Journal in Alabama before coming to Salisbury.
Parker, 60, is working on the Post’s copy desk, where he will edit stories and help lay out pages. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and did graduate studies at UNC-Chapel Hill.
Parker has previously worked at the Wilmington StarNews, where he rose to the level of special projects editor, and The Fayetteville Observer, where he led the copy desk and design team.
