East Spencer MLK Day activities

EAST SPENCER — The town of East Spencer will host its annual events to commemorate the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. beginning at noon Monday. There will be a march beginning on Robins Circle near the former Dunbar Center that will end about 1.4 miles at the East Spencer Fire Department.

The marchers will gather at noon at Southern City Tabernacle AME Zion Church parking lot, 102 Robin Circle.

Long Street will be closed to traffic between noon and 2 p.m. with all traffic detoured as designated. After the march, the town will hold a special commemorative program that will take place at East Spencer Fire Department.

The public is encouraged to participate and all children are encouraged to ride their bicycles, scooters, motorized cars and hover boards.
