Editorial: Kudos to schools for reading challenge on snow days

Kudos to Superintendent Lynn Moody for not waiting until Monday to call off Tuesday classes for Rowan-Salisbury Schools. Snow on the ground and an arctic chill ensured that rural roads would still be icy. There was no reason to keep everyone in suspense.

Moody also challenged students to read Achieve3000 articles on their school-issued digital devices during the snow days, and she offered a hot chocolate party as an incentive. It will be interesting to see how many students accept the challenge. If students can interact online with teachers and programs from home, snow days could become obsolete some day — as long as everyone can recharge.
