Submitted

In an effort to continue to raise the awareness of the AIDS epidemic in our communities and to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS, the Salisbury and Concord Alumnae chapters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority co-sponsored an event for the general public on Dec. 10 with the theme “Act Against AIDS.”

The featured speaker was DeVondia Roseborough, a young female author and community leader who shared her personal story, “The Evolution of D’Rose: Life After AIDS.” Informational materials on HIV/AIDS were provided, as well as on site confidential free testing.

Kannapolis too, has had some pretty notable fires reaching all the way back to 1914. The fire that destroyed J.W. Cannon High School probably comes to mind, but there have been many others.
