SALISBURY — A man and a woman were charged with robbery and assault after an incident police say sprang from their multi-partner relationship, according to Salisbury Police.

Annjanet Wallace, 41, told police that around 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve she was beaten, and robbed of her cell phone and some clothes, by a man and woman with whom she was engaged in a relationship, police say.

Wallace called police from a West Fisher Street apartment, but police have determined the incident occurred between the 1300 and 1400 block of West Bank Street in a field.

Wallace told police her attackers were Michael Angelo McLean, 33, and Shavonna Annissia Casey, 28, both of the 1000 block of West Horah Street.

The pair were charged with felony common law robbery. McLean was also charged with misdemeanor assault on a female by a male over 18 and Casey was charged with simple assault.

Police said McLean and Wallace were meeting for romantic purposes, with McLean knowing Wallace would be confronted by Casey. A report said an altercation ensued between the two women.

Police initially believed Wallace and McLean were at some point in a relationship and were getting back together. The report said McLean confirmed they were all knowingly in the relationship that had since dissolved.

McLean was given no bond, but has since been released from the Rowan County Detention Center and Casey was issued a $1,000 secured bond and has also been released.
