SALISBURY —Sixty-four students from four elementary schools got to celebrate Christmas early last week, thanks to Harold B. Jarrett American Legion Post 342 and Auxiliary Unit.

It was the post’s annual Christmas party, held Dec. 20 for students in the Exceptional Children’s program of the Rowan-Salisbury Schools.

The students came from Millbridge, Overton, Shive and Hanford-Dole schools. They were treated to a performance by the Burns and Company Magic and Ventriloquist Show. They also had lunch and a visit from Santa, who gave each child a gift and a treat bag.

Harry Garwood and Phyllis Richardson chair the children and youth programs for the Legion post and auxiliary.
