According to a press release from Rowan County District Attorney Brandy Cook’s office, Tony R. Wingler of Albemarle was convicted last week in Rowan County Criminal Superior Court of felony failure to report a new address by a registered sex offender.

Judge Anna Mills Wagoner sentenced Wingler to an active prison sentence of a minimum of 33 months to a maximum of 49 months.

In March 2016, the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office was notified by a probation officer that Wingler had not been at his reported residence for over six weeks. During the investigation, the homeowner confirmed that Wingler had not lived at the residence in six weeks.

Wingler, a registered sex offender, failed to report his change of address as required within three business days and he was subsequently arrested. Wingler was previously convicted of felony indecent liberties with a child, among other convictions.
