LANDIS — With hundreds of people lining the streets, South Rowan’s annual Christmas parade brought holiday cheer to Main Street.

Starting at 3 p.m. in Landis, the parade filed past crowds of families and children eager to catch a few handfuls of candy. It continued at 4 p.m. in China Grove.

Sirens blared as the parade cranked to a start. Once police cars and fire trucks passed, music from South Rowan and Carson high schools filled the streets.

Many of the parade participants flung handfuls of candy to onlookers gathered along Main Street in both towns. Bands, cheerleaders and other groups also entertained the crowds of people gathered on the side of Main Street.
