Fifty-one GARS members played in foursomes at Warrior this week.
Low ‘A’ Flight player was Ray Pope with a net of 64.40.
Low ‘B’ Flight player was David Schenk with a net of 62.83.
Low ‘C’ Flight player was Ralph Brown with a net of 64.57.
Low ‘D’ Flight player was Norman Schenk with a net of 59.24.
David Schenk eagled the par-4 No. 15 hole.
Bill Saunders, 82, shot an 82, Ralph Brown, 85, shot an 84, and J.C. Ritchie 92, shot an 81.

Women’s hoops
Kelly Dulkoski (Carson) made three 3-pointers for Kennesaw State in a 62-59 loss to Georgia State.

Mars Hill’s Aliyah Farmer (North Rowan) had 19 points and 13 rebounds in Tuesday’s loss to Anderson.

Amy Steller (Davie) had 12 points for Guilford win a win against Randolph.

Men’s basketball
Augusta’s Keshun Sherrill had 11 points, five assists and four rebounds in a win against Benedict.

The UNC Pembroke men’s basketball team shot nearly 57 percent from the field in the second half and beat Chowan, 90-78, on Wednesday evening at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court.

Newberry’s D.J. Copeland (A.L. Brown) had five assists in a 104-86 loss to Queens on Tuesday.

Prep baseball
Salisbury catcher Bo Rusher is playing with the South Charlotte Panthers showcase program.

Prep wrestling
South Rowan won the Salisbury Thanksgiving Invitational.

Duke lands recruit
Wendell Carter, who was the top uncommitted prospect in the 2017 recruiting class, committed to the Duke Blue Devils on Wednesday.
Carter chose the Blue Devils over in-state schools Georgia and Georgia Tech, as well as Harvard. He has reportedly already signed a letter of intent.
Carter, a 6-foot-10 power forward from Pace Academy (Georgia), is ranked No. 3 in the ESPN 100 for 2017.
The top player at his position, Carter averaged 14.7 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.4 blocks.
Carter is the third member of Duke’s 2017 recruiting class. He joins five-star guard Gary Trent Jr. (No. 8) and ESPN 100 wing Alex O’Connell (No. 88). Carter and Trent publicly discussed playing college basketball together several times, with Trent telling ESPN in June it was “100 percent.”
Duke is still eyeing the No. 1 recruiting class in the country, with Mike Krzyzewski targeting Mohamed Bamba (No. 4), Kevin Knox (No. 7) and Matt Coleman (No. 27) to round out the group.

NCHSAA
Emme Nelson from Community School of Davidson and Maynor Espinoza from Wallace-Rose Hill High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA performer of the week awards.
Nelson, a freshman on the Spartans swim team, impressed in the squad’s first meet of the season and her first high school competition.
At the Cavalier Kickoff against schools from all four classifications, Nelson took first place in the 200 I.M. as well as the 100 Breaststroke with new team records.
Espinoza, a senior at Wallace-Rose Hill, led the Bulldog soccer team to the 1A state championship as they beat Bishop McGuinness, 3-1, in the final match.
Espinoza scored the final goal of the match, and his 84th of the year.
