Does Trump really stand for evangelical values?

On Nov. 8, 2016, 87 percent of voting evangelical Christians voted for Donald Trump.

First, these Christians, who have bewailed the secularization of American society, just voted for the most secular man who ever ran for the presidency.

Second, these Christians, who have been so concerned for family values, just voted for a man who has been married three times, who committed adultery against each wife, and who said during the campaign that he doesn’t feel the need to ask God for forgiveness.

Third, these Christians, who so long for the decency of the 1950s, just voted for the most indecent man who ever ran for the presidency. Trump mocked the disabled, objectified women and used vulgar language freely and openly in his campaign speeches.

Fourth, these Christians, who pray for a spiritual revival to sweep the land, just voted for a man who has nothing but contempt for the “things of the Spirit,” whose chief concern in life is to be the biggest winner when it comes to the accumulation of the things of this world: money, power and sex.

Donald Trump, who does not have the qualities to be elected to any office in a local church, has just received the votes of 87 percent of evangelical Christians to be the leader of the free world. Evangelical Christianity, as represented by these 87 percent, is no longer Biblical Christianity. They’ve rendered to Caesar both the things that are Caesar’s and the things that are God’s.

Evangelical Christianity, as represented by these 87 percent, has been swallowed whole by Trumpism.

To quote Trump himself: “It is sad, very sad!”

Advance

An electoral message

The American people have sent a loud and clear message. Trump is out president! This vote, however, sends a message far deeper than our preference for the next U.S. president. Mr. Trump is the chosen candidate to lead our country and change the direction in which we have been moving. He will also have the opportunity to appoint our next several Supreme Court justices who will influence the path our country will take for generations to come.

But let us delve deeper and let me make it clear to the news outlets regarding the resounding message the peoples’ vote sent! TV and radio stations, newspapers, magazines and even political pundits have been proven wrong with the disdainful reporting that has reflected their stations’ or their own obvious favoritism. Let me also remind you that you are there to report the news equitably, fairly and impartially, not to interject your own prejudices.

The time has come for all the media to recognize that “we the people” are smarter than you give us credit for being and when you report news events improperly, incorrectly and unfairly, with any kind of slanted bent, obvious political leaning or one sidedness, remember we can cut you off, tune you out, cancel our subscriptions, boycott your events and even vote for the person you are opposing. I am certain you now know we have done all of these things and won the 2016 election with resounding success in the House, Senate and with the presidency.

As you begin your soul searching trying to make sense of the Donald Trump historic victory and our success in both houses of Congress, you don’t have to look far to find the reason, just have a mirror handy. Get the message? I doubt it!
