Veterans Day Parade, activities scheduled for Friday

SALISBURY — The community is invited to celebrate and honor local veterans with a day of activities to be held Friday.

The events will begin at 10 a.m. at the Hefner VA Medical Center building #6 where there will be a guest speaker and presentation of colors. VA hospital director, Kaye Green, will be in attendance.

After the program, VFW Post 3006, located at 1200 Brenner Ave., where you’ll find a military helicopter in front, will serve food from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The plates are $6.

The parade will begin at the VA near building #6 at 1 p.m. and will then reassemble in Salisbury.

All parade participants are asked to enter the VA Medical Center from Statesville Boulevard because there is more parking there and where the line up begins.

All bands and vehicles will line up at Stallings Memorial Baptist Church on South Main Street with additional vehicles at Harrison Street by 1:30 p.m. The parade will start at 2:30 p.m. and end at Kerr Street.

Parade participants are asked to be on location by 12:30 p.m. to work on the line up.
