Council on Aging schedules county commissioners forum

SALISBURY — The Rowan County Council on Aging and AARP Chapter 4314 will host a County Commissioners Candidate Forum on Thursday, Oct. 27, at 2 p.m. at Rufty-Holmes Senior Center.

The four candidates for the two seats open for election on Nov. 8 will be asked to respond to moderator questions focused on older adult issues.

The candidates include Republican incumbents Mike Caskey and Craig Pierce, as well as Democrat Veleria Levy and Libertarian Mark Lyerly.

Bob Bruce, president of the Rowan County Council on Aging, will moderate the discussion.

The event is free and open to interested older adult voters in Rowan County. A reception will follow where attendees can meet and greet the candidates individually.

Rufty-Holmes Senior Center, 1120 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. S, is a United Way agency.
