SALISBURY — Multiple departments responded Monday to a fire on the roof of the Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation facility, located at 635 Statesville Blvd.

Fire Chief Cory Orbison said the blaze was contained to roofing material where a crew was working. Salisbury, Ellis Cross Country and Granite Quarry fire departments responded, as did the Salisbury Police Department for traffic control.

The fire did not go beyond the roof deck, fire officials said.

The work crew appeared to be making repairs and may have accidentally started the fire just before 1:30 p.m. The fire was located just over the kitchen area and was out within minutes.

Firefighters stayed on the scene for some time to make certain the fire was completely extinguished. The facility did not have to be evacuated.
