SALISBURY — We live in a nation that’s divided, and it’s easy to think that nothing could change for the better. That’s why it’s an important time for the church to create space for healthy conversation around issues that matter.

Q Commons does just that. St. John’s Lutheran Church, 200 W. Innes St., will join churches in 100 different cities around the country from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday to host a live video feed around critical issues like the election, race, and a divided country.

The only agenda is to create space for healthy conversation and equip Christians to engage culture in faithful, productive ways.

Bradley Chestnut, St. John’s contemporary worship leader, is one of the event’s hosts.

“We’re trying to figure out how to talk about issues that matter. Q Commons is a response to the wider cry for civility in public disclosure. We hope to have an audience of people interested in the political process and in racial reconciliation,” he says. “With all the chaos, we’re trying to figure out as Christians what we’re supposed to do about it.”

Speakers include Ravi Zacharias, author and apologist, “Responding in Our Divided Moment;” Lecrae, Grammy award-winning hip-hop artist, “Race, Righteous Anger & Resolution;” Kristen Powers and Ross Douthat, authors and political commentators, “How Should Christians Think About Voting?”
