SALISBURY — Police say a driver distracted by his cell phone crashed and caused a power outage early Monday.

Police responded to the corner of South Fulton and West McCubbins streets just around midnight. Justin Scott Snider, 27, of Salisbury told police he was answering his cell phone when he left the roadway to the right side of the road and struck a utility pole.

Snider, who was traveling northeast on south Fulton Street, was not hurt. No other vehicles were involved. Duke Energy was called in to make repairs and restore power. Salisbury Police and Salisbury Fire Department also responded.

Snider was not charged.
