SALISBURY — Authorities said a Salisbury man was charged with threatening to kill his neighbor, who recorded the incident on his cell phone. The man also threatened police officers.

Salisbury Police charged Hank Matthew Harley, 47, of the 300 block of West D Avenue, with two counts of communicating threats. Police initially went to the home after someone called 911 and hung up.

When police arrived to D Avenue they saw several people in the roadway and in the front yard. One of those outside was Hank Harley. Police said he appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. He became irate and had been threatening his neighbor, Robert McGee.

McGee said Harley threatened him with a knife and he caught it all on his cell phone.

Harley told his neighbor, “I’m going to (expletive) kill you.”

Once arrested, police said Harley told the neighbor he would kill him when he got out of jail. He also threatened four police officers. He remains in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $2,500 secured bond.
