North Rowan High School Class of 1966

Submitted by Steve Vail

My, my, 50 years, that can seem like a long time or yesterday. 105 students graduated from North Rowan High School 50 years ago. The afternoon and evening of Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, 47 of those classmates and their guests gathered together at TJ’s High Rock Grill to celebrate and renew long time friendships and relive past events, some factual and others somewhat factual.

Many thanks to the reunion committee, chaired by Nancy Shoaf Thomas, assisted by Rick and Carol Cruse Leonard, Kay Shoaf Hager, Steve and Jody Vail, Karen Rabon Broyhill, Bobbie Shuping Denny, Jean Cranfill Lefler, Doris Goodwin Shepherd, Marsha Gemayel Wood and others. Classmate Marolyn Brooks Johnson was given an extra thank you and acknowledgement for her many hours spent compiling a recap of the individual classmates last 50 years.

If the smiles, laughter and the reliving of past events were any indication, a great time was had by all. Decorations of green and white, school memorabilia, period music and photographs from the past, helped to carry the classmates back to the good old days.

Classmate, the Rev. Steve Sells, provided the invocation and observed a moment of silence for our deceased classmates: Robert Edward Boone, Charles Richard Breedlove, William Lafayette Brooks, William Michael Corriher, Jerry Evan Culp, Douglas Dills, Charles Dwight Farmer, Alan Lewis Griggs, Carl Steven House, Randall Byron Koontz, Fred Eugene Lambe, Bobby Ray Miller, Linda Sue Nesbitt, Sylvia Ann Swink, Thomas Carl Swink Jr., Sandra Ellen Wilkerson and Paul Gordon Wilson.

Classmates attending the reunion were: David Adams, Ronnie Arrowood, Ann Bass Hall, Linda Beard Fesperman, Marolyn Brooks Johnson, Arlie Brown, John Burris, Ann Coble Ennis, Jean Cranfill Lefler, Al Crawford, Carol Cruise Leonard, Brenda Everhart Maxon, Marsha Gemayel Wood, Libby Gobbel McGaha, Jolet Gobble Stanley, Doris Goodwin Shepherd, Margaret Hackett Murphy, Joey Hager, Tony Hager, Cynthis Hocutt Headrick, Barry Holt, Sondra Honeycutt Shuler, Rick Leonard, Millie Mahaffey Brandt, Dale Massey, Jean Milhollin Medinger, Harold Miller, Mike Moore, Linda Morgan Bost, Jimmy Payne, Karen Rabon Broyhill, Judith Raper Main, Mike Redding, Steve Sells, Marrianne Sharpe Graham, Kay Shoaf Hager, Nancy Shoaf Thomas, Bobbie Shuping Denny, Jane Shuping Curlee, Mike Shuping, Steve Vail, James Walser, Wayne West, Bill Wiseman, Nancy White Capocy and Hope Wraight Johnson.

By acclamation, classmate Joey Hager was selected to chair the committee for our next reunion. How about next weekend Joey…..
