Representatives from the Rowan County Chamber of Commerce are in Washington, D.C. this week to meet with federal elected officials.

Three representatives are in Washington, D.C., including: Chamber of Commerce President Elaine Spalding; Denise Hallett, of Vulcan Materials; and Terry Osborne, of the Rowan-Kannapolis Alchoholic Beverage Control Board. The trio is in the nation’s capitol city for the North Carolina Business and Economic Development Summit.

The summit started on Monday, with speeches and panels by Gov. Pat McCrory and several members of Congress, including all 13 of North Carolina’s U.S. House members. The event continues today with speeches by North Carolina’s U.S. senators and other speakers.

Representatives from the Rowan County Chamber of Commerce are also scheduled to meet individually with North Carolina’s members of Congress today.

During the summit, the Chamber of Commerce is lobbying for county-specific projects, including an extension to Rowan County Airport runway and an Interstate 85 exit in southern Rowan.
