SALISBURY — Musician Matthew Weaver will offer a program on North Carolina folk music history at tonight’s meeting of the Rowan History Club.

The club meeting begins at 7 p.m. Weaver also will give a musical performance, so this meeting will go a little longer than usual. There is no charge.

Weaver is a singer-songwriter who is proficient on 19 different instruments. He has won first place for Pianist-Instrumentalist of the Year for the last five years at the North Carolina State Folk Festival.

Weaver is serving the communities of the Southern Appalachian Mountain Region through Humanitarian, Education, Missions, History, and Preservation of Appalachian Mountain Music. Clay Lunsford of the Al and Clay Lunsford and the GV Band will also take part in the musical performance tonight.

The meeting will be held in the Messinger Room at the Rowan Museum, 202 N. Main St. History Club meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month, September-June. Guests to the program should enter through the rear entrance.

A roundtable format will allow for a 30- to 45- minute presentation, followed by a question-and-answer period.  The Rowan History Club is open to all persons interested in the history of Rowan County. There are no dues or admission fees, and refreshments are served.
