Rowan weather: Poor air quality today

From 10 a.m. this morning until 8 tonight, we are under an air quality alert. Ground level ozone is the main culprit in making this a code orange day. Children, the elderly and people with heart or respiratory diseases should avoid prolonged outdoor activity.

And it’s going to be hot and sunny, with a high of 92 and little wind. Tonight will be partly cloudy, with a low of 68.

Saturday will be hot, too, with mostly sunny skies and a high of 91. The air quality will be a code yellow, with both ozone and particle pollution. South wind will blow at 3-7 mph. It will be a partly cloudy night, with a low of 70 and south wind at 5-7 mph.

Sunday brings a 30 percent chance of showers, with thunderstorms after 2 p.m. It will be mostly sunny and 87, with north wind at 3-6 mph. The same chance of rain lingers through 10 p.m., with partly cloudy skies overnight and a ow of 66.

Monday will be noticeably cooler, with a high of 83 under mostly sunny skies. The low will be 66, with partly cloudy skies.

Tuesday will be mostly sunny and 86, with another partly cloudy night and another ow of 66.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny, too, with a high of 88, and the  low will be 66 again, with partly cloudy skies.

Mostly sunny Thursday with a high of 82.
