SALISBURY — The Rowan County Literacy Council will hold a two-session tutor training workshop Tuesday, Sept. 20 and Thursday, Sept. 22 in the Rowan Public Library. Volunteers for tutoring are needed at all three library branches.

The training sessions will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The registration for these two sessions is a one-time fee of $25 to cover the cost of materials.

In order to be certified as a tutor, participants must attend both sessions.

Reservations to attend this training may be made by calling the literacy office at 704-216-8266 or by emailing dboyd@rcliteracy.org. Reservations should be made by Friday, Sept. 16. Orientation materials will be sent those who register with information on the literacy program and the role of volunteer tutors in helping adults to read or to learn English as a second language.

Adults, 16 years and older, who need help with reading or learning English can also call the literacy office for information on its program.
