Area Sports Briefs: East soccer gets first victory

East Rowan’s boys soccer team won, 6-2, against Albemarle on Wednesday.
Alex Kalogeromitros led the Mustangs to their first victory of the season with three goals and three assists.
Kevin Ochoa added two goals, while James Lomax scored his first goal of the season.
Lomax and Landon Ketchie had assists.
David Burleyson earned the win in goal.
Prep tennis
West Rowan’s girls won, 9-0, against North Rowan at City Park on Wednesday.
At No. 1 singles, Payton Holt won 6-1, 6-0 against Samantha Pritchard.
Mackenzie Koontz won 6-0, 6-3 against Nicole Bates.
Amber White won 6-2, 6-0 against Merritt Robinson.
Sklyar Jahnke won 6-1, 6-1 against Caylinn Helm.
Mira White defeated Kayla Swicegood 6-4, 6-0.
Madison Smith defeated Chantal Mulbach 6-0, 6-0.
Winning in doubles were the teams of Holt/Koontz (8-0), A. White/Abby Johnson (8-0), and Jahnke/M. White (6-0).
West Rowan will play at home today against South Rowan.

Salisbury’s girls won, 5-4, against North Stanly on Wednesday.
Maria Capito, Bethanie Stauffer Rainey Durham and Ruth Clement won for the Hornets in singles.
The team of Capito/Stauffer won in doubles.
Salisbury plays Concord at home today.
Prep golf
North Davidson shot 130 and won a golf match at McCanless on Wednesday.
Medalist Emilee Wenmoth shot 35 for North Davidson.
East Rowan was second at 142. Micah Loper shot 45, Hailey Fesperman shot 46, and Camryn Corriher shot 51.
Kayla Addison shot 53 to lead Carson (168).
Ellyse Scarborough shot 52 to lead South Rowan (171).
Local golf
Gary Ward had a hole-in-one on Wednesday while playing at Rolling Hills Golf Club.
Ward aced the par-4 15th hole, a dog-leg right which was playing 332 yards from the back tees. He hit his shot with a 3-hybrid club.
Nathan Harris witnessed Ward’s great shot.
Intimidators lose
ROME, Ga. — Ray-Patrick Didder homered and had two hits, driving in two as the Rome Braves topped the Kannapolis Intimidators 7-4 on Wednesday.
Down 1-0 in the first, Rome took the lead when Austin Riley hit an RBI double and then scored on a single by Carlos Castro.
Kannapolis answered in the top of the next frame, scoring three runs to take a two-run lead, including a double by Jake Fincher that scored Cody Daily.
The Braves later added three runs in the second and one in the seventh and eighth to secure the victory.
Jimmy Lambert (0-4) took the loss in the South Atlantic League game.
Justin Seager update
Justin Seager, middle brother of the three baseball-playing Seagers, had a huge game recently with two homers and seven RBIs. For the season at Bakersfield in the Advanced Class-A California League, Seager (NW Cabarrus, Charlotte) is batting .211 with 11 homers and 43 RBIs.
