Carson’s girls tennis team won, 9-0, against A.L. Brown on Tuesday.
Winners for the Cougars were Gabi Jolly (6-1, 6-2), Siera Fesperman (6-2, 6-0), Emily Sloop (6-1, 6-0), Margaret Correll (6-0, 6-1), Olivia Weatherby (6-4, 6-0) and Maci Cooper (6-0, 6-0).
Carson took all three doubles matches 10-0, with Jolly-Fesperman, Sloop-Correll and Weatherby-Cooper teaming up.

Salisbury’s girls tennis team won, 9-0, against South Rowan on Tuesday.
Winners for the Hornets were Maria Capito (6-0, 6-0), Skye Mowery (6-1, 6-1), Bethanie Stauffer (6-0, 6-0), Rachel Seifert (6-1, 6-0), Rainey Durham (6-1, 6-1) and Ruth Clement (6-1, 6-1) .
Winning in doubles were the teams of Capito-Stauffer (8-0), Mowery/Seifert (8-2) and Clement/Durham (8-5).
Salisbury plays at North Stanly today and is home against Concord on Thursday.

Local golf
Sixty GARS members played in foursomes on Monday in their annual ABCD tournament at Lexington Golf Club.
‘A’ Flight winner was Ernest Wagner with a net of 63.77. ‘B’ Flight winner was Ron Bowers with a net of 68.27. ‘C’ Flight winner was Ralph Brown with a net of 65.96. ‘D’ Flight winner was Roger Costic with a net of 74.62.
Dick Hatoway, Guy Schenck, Ralph Brown, O.J. Chandler and J.C. Ritchie shot their ages or better.
Corbin Hills
Winners of the Corbin Hills Women’s Golf Association’s “Throw Out” event on Tuesday were Kristi Laton (gross) and Susan Morris (net) in the First Flight.
In the Second Flight, Faye Cline won gross and Cindy Carmazzi won net.
Susan Wydner won gross in the Third Flight, followed by Carolyn Ries for net. Winner of low putts was Azalee Story.

Intimidators lose
ROME, Ga. — Justin Ellison had two hits and scored three runs, and Ricardo Sanchez struck out nine hitters over seven innings as the Rome Braves topped the Kannapolis Intimidators, 6-3, on Tuesday.
Corbin Clouse struck Grant Massey out with runners on first and second to end the game for his fourth save of the season.
Sanchez (7-9) allowed one run and four hits while walking three to pick up the win.

Sands hits walk-off
CHARLOTTE— Former Catawba star Jerry Sands hit a walk-off single with two outs in the 10th inning, as the Charlotte Knights defeated the Durham Bulls 3-2 on Tuesday.
Leury Garcia scored the game-winning run after he reached base on a walk and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt.
