SALISBURY — A Salisbury man told police he offered a ride to two men and they robbed him and cut him with a box cutter.

The victim, 37, said he gave the men a ride from Walmart to the Speedway gas station sometime around 6:30 a.m. Monday. The man had bought two pair of boots, and when the men got out of his vehicle they took the boots.

One man ran and the other stayed behind. When the victim asked for his boots back a man later identified as Curtis David White told him he was going to sell the boots. A second suspect has been identified, but no arrest has been made.

Surveillance video shows the suspect walked away from the victim, turned and cut him with a box cutter from just below the shoulder blade to his waist.

He was taken to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center where he was treated.

Salisbury Police charged White, 47, whose address is listed as the streets of Salisbury, with felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. He was issued a $10,000 secured bond and remains in jail.

White has been convicted of robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault on an officer, felony breaking and entering, post release revocation, crime against nature, larceny, assault on a female, simple assault. His first court appearance is expected Wednesday.
