SALISBURY — Police have identified the driver killed in a weekend multiple-vehicle crash on South Jake Alexander Boulevard. Officials say excessive speed appears to be a factor in the fiery crash.

Salisbury Police were called to the scene of a three-car crash near Jake Alexander Boulevard, South Main Street and Julian Road, around 5:20 p.m. Saturday. Police say Tyler Ellsworth Taylor, 20, of Salisbury, died at the scene when his silver Chevrolet Camaro crossed the median and collided with a white Chevrolet Silverado pickup. Taylor was traveling westbound on South Jake Alexander Boulevard.

The pickup, driven by Isaias Cortes Parada, 17, of Greensboro, was traveling east. A third vehicle, a gold Pontiac Aztek driven by Lindsey Albright, 27, also of Salisbury, was traveling behind the pickup.

Police Capt. Shelia Lingle said Taylor swerved to miss the truck, but struck it on the left side. The vehicles then spun into the path of the Pontiac. The impact of the crash pushed the vehicles several feet beyond the railroad overpass. There were no passengers in any of the vehicles.

Parada was taken to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center for injuries that were not serious. Albright was not injured in the crash.

Lingle said the crash remains under investigation.
