N.C. Department of Transportation crews need more time for work on a pipe replacement project along a section of Cannon Street between China Grove Highway and Cal Miller Road in Rockwell.

Crews closed the road on Monday, Aug. 8. While the road was originally scheduled to reopen at 4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 19, the road will now reopen at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sep. 9, for additional widening, curb and gutter work.

Motorists traveling through the area will continue to use China Grove Highway, East Main Street, Lower Stone Church Road and Cal Miller Road as the one-mile detour route.

Motorists should watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
