Gethsemane Missionary Baptist

Back to school supplies give away at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, 719 South Caldwell St., Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. All children must be accompanied by parent, guardian or adult. No exceptions.

 

First Presbyterian Church of Salisbury 

The Rev. Brian Daoust will be preaching his final sermon Sunday at First Presbyterian Church of Salisbury prior to assuming the call to serve at Johns Creek Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Daoust will preach at all three services: 8:30 and 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary and 8:50 a.m. in Lewis Hall. Sunday school is at 10 a.m.

The Rev. Daoust has served as Director of Christian Education and Youth at First Presbyterian Church of Salisbury since April 2013. He has accepted a call to an ordained position as Associate Pastor for Youth at Johns Creek Presbyterian Church, north of Atlanta, Ga.

 

Messiah Lutheran observes 74th year

Messiah Lutheran Church, 701 E. Lafayette St., will observe its 74th anniversary on Sunday beginning with the 11 a.m. service. There will be no Sunday  school. 

Guest speaker Lucas Safrit will lead the worship service. Lucas is the the grandson of Pastor and Theresa Safrit. A rising junior at Catawba College, he is preparing for the ordained ministry. A birthdy dinner will be held in the fellowship hall, open to all. The Rev. Don Safrit is the host pastor.

Christiana Lutheran 

Sunday is Youth Sunday at Christiana Lutheran Church, 6190 US Hwy 52 (across from Old Stone Winery). During the 10:30 a.m. service the youth will be sharing about their mission trip to Costa Rica. Youth Director, Brittney Barnhardt, will lead worship. There will be special music and drama for all to enjoy.

Macedonia Missionary Baptist

CONCORD — Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 6740 Macedonia Church Road, will hold homecoming on Sunday. The 11 a.m. speaker will be the Rev. Thomas Wyatt, recently of Dorsett Chapel United Church of Christ, followed by a Friends & Family Day picnic.

Revival services will be held Monday, Aug. 15 through Thursday, Aug. 18 at 7 p.m. nightly, with speaker the Rev. Dr. J. Vincent Terry, vice president of the General Baptist State Convention of North Carolina and pastor of Mount Peace Baptist Church of Raleigh.

 

Moore’s Chapel A.M.E. Zion 

CLEVELAND – Moore’s Chapel AME Zion Church, 5890 South River Church Road, will hold its annual homecoming on Sunday at 3 p.m. The Rev. Eddie L. Fortson is pastor. The visiting guest speaker is the Rev. I. Melvin Peay accompanied by his choir and congregation of St. Paul AME Zion Church, Hickory. Lunch to be served at 2 p.m. Annual revival services start on Monday, Aug. 15 and continue through Friday, Aug. 19, at 7 p.m. nightly.

New Zion Baptist

New Zion Baptist Church, 2785 Dunn’s Mountain Road, will host a pastoral anniversary event to honor Pastor the Rev V. Patrick Jones Sr. on Sunday at 3 p.m. The 11 a.m. speaker will be Pastor Emeritus Paul Jones Sr. Guest speaker is the Rev. Bradley Taylor of Outreach Christian Ministries. 704-637-9324.

 

Soldiers Memorial AME Zion

The F.A.C.T. (Families and Communities Together) Program will sponsor a “Blessing of the Children Worship Service” on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Soldiers Memorial AME Zion Church, 306 N. Church Street.

The theme of the service is, “Back to School – Yes We Can!” The service will be lead by children and youth. Youth ministries will include liturgical dance, skits and music from the following: Greenville Memorial AME Zion Church, Charlotte, Crown In Glory Lutheran Church, Moore’s Chapel AME Zion Church, Soldiers Memorial AME Zion Church and First Calvary Baptist Church.

An Object Lesson will be presented by the Rev. Kevin Griffin, a student at Hood Theological Seminary and the meditation and blessing of the children and youth will be delivered by the Rev. Dr. Derrick Anderson, Pastor of Soldiers Memorial AME Zion Church.

Parents, Grandparents, Guardians, Aunts, Uncles and Child Advocates… come and bring your children and youth to a service of blessing. Refreshments will be served.

 

Antioch Missionary Baptist

GRANITE QUARRY – Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 602 S. Salisbsury Ave., will celebrate its annual homecoming and revival on Sunday at 3 p.m. The theme is Feeding the Multitude. The 11 a.m. speaker will be the Rev. Rickey Johnson. Dinner will be served at 1:30 p.m. and the speaker for the 3 p.m. service will be Elder Timothy L. Lyons of St. John’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church of Charlotte. The Rev. Rickey Johnson is host pastor.

Revival will be held nightly beginning at 7:30 p.m. Speakers for the week will be: Monday – Samuel Washington, pastor of Solid Rock Church of God; Tuesday– Alonza Williams Sr., pastor of Rhema Praise and Worship Center; Wednesday (youth night) – Dr. Martha Starks, Work of Life Family Worship Center; Thursday, Timothy Bridges, pastor of Shady Grove Baptist Church of East Spencer.

 

First Baptist

Gospel Plowboys will be appearing at the First Baptist Church, 223 N Fulton St., on Sunday for a time of singing and testimony. Service begins at 6 p.m. The group recently released its first CD, “Welcome Home.”

Love Ministries revival

Love Ministries Inc. will hold its annual revival services Monday through Wednesday, Aug. 15-17, at New Hope AME Zion Church, 1470 N. Long St. Ext, East Spencer, where the Rev. Dr. Debra Hall is pastor. Guest revivalist will be the Rev. Carolyn Bratton, pastor of Moore’s Chapel AME Zion Church. Kirkwood Presbyterian Church

KANNAPOLIS – Southern Gospel music by the Parkwood Singers, from a local church, playing old time Gospel music, by a variety of performers, including guitar and harmonica. Saturday, Aug. 20.
