Local musician Darrell Harwood on Sunday will have a concert at West End Plaza for Special Olympics athletes and others with intellectual or developmental disabilities.

Harwood’s concert will start at 5 p.m. on Sunday and continue until 7 p.m. The concert will be in the former J.C. Penney Building at West End Plaza, located at 1935 Jake Alexander Blvd. in Salisbury.

In past years, Harwood has brought attendees on stage during the concert to sing, dance and play the guitars. After the performance, he gives autographs and guitar picks.

The concert is free, but a ticket is required for admission. Concessions and souvenirs will be on sale. For tickets and further information, contact Jesse Byrd at jbyrd@rowanymca.com or 704-636-0111. Those interested can also contact Nancy Collins at 704-213-1256 with questions or comments.

The concert is co-sponsored by the Hurley YMCA and Rowan County Parks & Recreation Therapeutic Recreation Division.

For the past few years it was held in the gym at the YMCA. This is the first year it will be at West End Plaza.
