SALISBURY — Refuge Church of God in Christ will be hosting a back to school giveaway and community fun fest Saturday.
The event is part of the church’s new community outreach program, which started in May.
“We want to go beyond the walls of just our church,” Asia Wilson, one of the event’s organizers said.
The church has been collecting school supplies all summer, Wilson said, and will begin giving away school supplies at 11 a.m. There will also be a clothing giveaway, for all ages and sizes.
Short Street will be blocked off and filled with fun activities like bouncy houses, a dunk tank and live performances by gospel groups, gospel rappers and praise dancers. There will also be cotton candy, popcorn, snow cones, hot dogs and drinks.
Everything at the event, from activities to food, is free. The giveaway and street fair will be held at 1133 Short St. from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
