SALISBURY — A Salisbury man who took his computer to be repaired was charged with sex offenses after the repair business found child pornography on the computer.

Salisbury Police charged Roy Howard Drye Jr., 68, of the 600 block of Lincolnton Road, with eight counts of felony third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

Police Capt. Shelia Lingle said Drye took his computer to be fixed at Simple Solutions, a Salisbury computer repair business, and while they worked on the computer, someone with the business discovered videos of underage girls.

The company reported the matter on June 8 to police, who obtained search warrants for the computer, and were able to bring charges Friday.

Warrants said one video was of an 11-year-old girl and another of a 12-year-old girl.

Drye was issued a $10,000 secured bond and has since been released from the Rowan County Detention Center.

He is expected in court today for his first appearance.
