SALISBURY — Plans are moving forward with the Washington Building, according to KMD Construction.

The Washington Building at 118 N. Main St. was built in 1902 and has 6,245 square feet on each floor.

Pete Bogle, owner of the Bogle Architecture Firm, was asked to provide the designs for the building.

Kim Davis of KMD Construction said the portion of the first floor that used to house Ethos Southern Bistro and Martini Bar will soon be home to the Shuckin’ Shack Oyster Bar.

The restaurant announced plans to move into the building in late January of this year. It is making progress but has not set an official opening date yet, according to its Facebook page.

Davis said there are other “loose leads” to fill the first floor of the building, which is dedicated to retail space.

They are also pursuing businesses to lease the office space on the second floor. The building is wired with Fibrant’s high speed Internet, perfect for a high-tech business, Davis said.

The third floor is being turned into five apartment spaces. Davis said there are already potential pre-leases for four of them.

Bogle’s original plans for the third floor apartments were two 2-bed and 2-bath units, one 2-bed and 1-bath unit with loft space, one 1-bed and 1-bath unit with loft space and one 3-bed and 2-bath unit with loft space.

KMD Construction plans to have the apartments ready be the end of the year.
