SALISBURY — Fire officials continue to investigate a Romana Drive outbuilding that was destroyed by fire Monday night. The homeowner received burns, but is doing OK, fire officials said.

The fire occurred around 8:30 p.m. at 475 Romana Drive, off Long Ferry Road, not far from Millers Ferry Fire Department. The owner of the property called the fire in to authorities.

Parts of the structure were still standing, but it was completely burned, said Rowan Emergency Services Fire Division Chief Deborah Horne.

The owner suffered some first- and second-degree burns on his arms. He refused Rowan EMS care, Horne said.

She said fire investigators said the property owner seemed to be all right as of Tuesday morning.

The owner had security cameras and fire investigators will review the footage before making their final determination as to the cause. Fire investigators Mark Troublefield, Jeff Sickles and David Sells went to the fire Monday night and returned Tuesday.

The following fire and emergency agencies responded: Miller’s Ferry, Union, Liberty, Spencer, Granite Quarry, East Spencer, Ellis, South Salisbury, Salisbury, Churchland fire departments and the Rowan Fire Marshals Office.
