KANNAPOLIS – Patricia Fulcher of Salisbury has been reappointed to the Rowan-Cabarrus Community College board of trustees.

Fulcher was recently reappointed by the Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education to serve on the board through 2020.

“I am so pleased to have the opportunity to continue to work with Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. It’s been an honor to be reappointed to the board. I believe in the good work that they’re doing, and I’m excited to support the college and its mission in the community,” said Fulcher.

Fulcher currently serves as a member of the board’s finance and investment and executive committees and as chair of the personnel committee. Rowan-Cabarrus trustees are responsible for attending all board meetings and key Rowan-Cabarrus events. As a board, they are responsible for college policies.

“I am thrilled to have Pat reappointed to our board. Her expertise, connections and insight are priceless and we know the college will continue to benefit from her leadership,’” said Carl M. Short, chairman of the Rowan-Cabarrus board of trustees.

Fulcher is retired from Food Lion where she last served as vice president of associate services. Fulcher currently works as a program support specialist for AMYX where she builds relationships with North Carolina employers, enhancing their knowledge of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act and employment of military service members.

Fulcher was a particular asset to Rowan-Cabarrus during the college’s HR classification study which allowed the college to standardize hiring and job descriptions. She also served as chair of the board’s core presidential search committee that ultimately brought Dr. Carol S. Spalding to Rowan-Cabarrus.

Fulcher is also a graduate of Rowan-Cabarrus Community College.

“As a graduate of Rowan-Cabarrus, I know firsthand the impact that the college can make on an individual,” said Fulcher. “I couldn’t be more proud to serve my alma mater as a trustee.”

“Rowan-Cabarrus is vital to Rowan and Cabarrus counties in the advancement of our workforce and the enrichment of our communities,” said Fulcher. “Working together, we can make this an even better place in which to live and work.”

As a native of Salisbury, Fulcher has a long history of service to the community with organizations like the Masonic Children’s Home of Oxford, North Carolina Military Support Corporation, Lion’s Share Credit Union and the N.C. Employer for the Support of the Guard and Reserve.

“We are very pleased that we will be able to continue to work with Pat,” said Spalding, president of the college. “She is a highly accomplished and driven human resources executive with a proven track record of success in creating a corporate business strategy to meet company needs.”

Board of trustees members are liaisons to the college’s entire service area and not just to the appointing entity. Once appointed, trustees are to carry out their duties as established by the General Statutes of North Carolina and the board’s bylaws and policies independent of concern for any group, organization, appointing board or political entity other than the students, citizens of the service area and the college.

“Our trustees are accomplished and dedicated. They’ve all been involved extensively in our community, and work well together to help create the future of the college,” said Spalding.
