Hood Theological Seminary announces new director of recruitment and admissions

The Rev. Dr. Reginald Boyd, Jr. of High Point has joined the administrative staff of Hood Theological Seminary as its new director of recruitment and admissions.

Boyd was born and raised in Charlotte and attended Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. He received a diploma in retail management and small business management from American Business and Fashion Institute. While working with Bank of America in 1999, he began ministry at Little Rock A.M.E. Zion Church in Charlotte. He is a 2003 graduate of Livingstone College and a double alumnus of Hood Theological Seminary, where he received the master of divinity and doctor of ministry degrees in 2008 and 2014, respectively.

After transferring to the South Atlantic Episcopal District of the A.M.E. Zion Church in 2008, Boyd was ordained and appointed to Center Emmanuel A.M.E. Zion Church in January 2010. While serving as pastor of Center Emmanuel, he was elected conference secretary of the South Carolina Conference and the first year conference studies teacher. He also led the congregation into a new sanctuary in May 2012. During the convocation of the South Atlantic Episcopal District in January 2013, Boyd was appointed to Union Grove A.M.E. Zion Church in Bear Creek.

One student from Salisbury named to Presbyterian College provost’s list

Libby Fowler of Salisbury has been named to the spring 2016 provost’s list at Presbyterian College. The provost’s list honors those students who achieved at least a 3.30 GPA.
