High heat doesn’t spoil Shiloh 5K Mission Run

The 5th annual 5K Mission Run was a hit again at Shiloh Church in Faith Saturday morning. Race Director LouAnn Fesberman said it all went great, providing a means for more mission trips which allow the church to help others. They just returned last week from Savannah, Georgia.

Cheyenne Tally easily sailed through the half mile Fun Run to grab first place. Both overall adult winners had a little unique race. First place male winner Jonathan Reid lives in Florida but was visiting family in Granite Quarry. He decided to participate with other family members. He said that it was nice to participate in a run in a little cooler climate, so the high heat that seemed to hamper everyone else was no problem for him. His winning time was 18:54. Melissia Orr is a regular runner in this area and led the females with a time of 23:02. This was a special win for her because it is No. 10 for this year — wins that is, not just participations.

Major sponsors for the race were Harrell Enterprises, Salcoa Contracting, Ann Lyerly, F&M Bank, Novant Health, and Cheerwine. For complete results visit www.salisburyrowanrunners.org.
