Jeanne Hardican spent Monday afternoon relaxing with her grandson, Ashton Hardican, 15, by the lake at Dan Nicholas Park. Because of summer break, she and her “best friend,” Ashton, were finally able to spend some quality time together. Ashton enjoys fishing, whereas Jeanne claims to not be a “fisher lady.” Instead of fishing, she contentedly sat in the shade reading “500 Things Every Teen Should Know Before Leaving Home,” while watching her grandson and enjoying his company. “It’s nice to get away from the busy busy,” she said. Other than the Hardicans, the park wasn’t bustling with people, but it was with critters such as ducks, geese, and squirrels.
