MOORESVILLE — A 19-year-old Mooresville man on a bike has been charged with breaking and entering cars in the neighborhood of the Mooresville Jehovah’s Witness Congregation.

Tyler Vincent Day, of 145 Sparta Drive, Mooresville, was caught on a surveillance camera at the church. Members had reported a vehicle had been broken into.

After watching the video, deputies found the suspect left riding a white mountain bike. Sgt. A.W. Blackburn arrived and deputies began checking the area. They found that Day matched the face on the video.

After a short interview, Day took deputies to where he had left stolen property.

Throughout Sunday, people in the Olympia Drive neighborhood of the church discovered their cars were broken into as well. Deputies found and returned the stolen property to the owners.

Day was also found to have property from several different residences, deputies reported. He was charged with seven counts of felony breaking/entering a motor vehicle, five counts of larceny after breaking and entering, three counts of misdemeanor larceny and one count of injury to personal property.

He is being held at the Iredell County Detention Center under $15,000 secured bond.
