LCC’s Community Day is today

‘In God We Trust’ program today

Providence AME Zion honors pastor

Providence AME Zion Church, 2415 Providence Church Road, will host the appreciation service for its pastor, the Rev. Zacharias E. Allen Sr., during the 11 a.m. service on Sunday. Anniversary services at True Holiness

KANNAPOLIS — True Holiness of God, 309 Rosemont Ave., will be honoring Pastor Renwick Von Eric Fisher’s 25 years of ministry beginning June 12 at 11 a.m. and continuing June 13-17 at 7 p.m. each night.

Boxwood hosts service to honor fathers

MOCKSVILLE — Boxwood Missionary Baptist Church, Boxwood Road, will honor all fathers and father-figures with a special service on Sunday at 2 p.m.

It will be a time of musical praise and recognition of the fathers of the congregation. Dinner will be served after the service.

Special program at Fairview Heights

Men’s Day at New Hope AME Zion 

New Hope AME Zion Church will celebrate its annual Men’s Day on Sunday at 3 p.m.

Guest speaker will be the Rev. Timothy L. Bates, pastor of Calvary Presbyterian Church and Cameron Presbyterian Church of Statesville.

Rev. Bates is a graduate of North Rowan High School, hold a BA in business administration from Catawba College and a master of divinity degree from Hood Theological Seminary.

Among his many community accomplishments, Bates received the 2016 Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Award and the 2015 Helping Hand Award from Ardis Chapel AME Zion Church.

The men’s community choir will provide the music. Host pastor is the Rev. Dr. Debra J. Hall.

Erwin Temple CME shows appreciation

The Rev. Ervin L. Hannah Jr., pastor of Erwin Temple CME Church, will be honored with an appreciation service on Sunday.

He will give the morning message and the Spiritual Choir will sing. Lunch will be served at 1:30 p.m.

Afternoon worship begins at 3 p.m. with guest minister the Rev. Curtis L. Cummings, pastor of New Shepherd Baptist Church of Cooleemee.

Rev. Hannah has served Erwin Temple since 2006.This 10th anniversary celebration will be led by the Pastor’s Aide Ministry.

Faith Healing and Life holds Men’s Day

Faith Healing and Life ministries will hold a Men’s Day program on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.

Guest speaker Melvin Barnes is the son of music legend the Rev. F.C. Barnes.

Melvin holds a masters degree in theology from Jacksonville Seminary in Nashville, NC.

In 2014 Melvin and Luther Barnes left their father’s ministries and began the Restoration Worship Center, where Melvin is assistant pastor and also leads the ministry “Brother to Brother” — men reaching back to guide young men.

Gospel explosion benefits Flint 

A gospel explosion program will be held on Sunday at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church at 4 p.m. The program is a benefit a missions trip to deliver water to the residents of Flint, Michigan.

The emcee will be the Rev. Alice Houston Perry and program participants are Teens for Christ (TFC) from Macedonia Baptist of Concord, Walter Mitchell, Elder Phyllis B. Shipp, The Heirs of Salvation and the Gethsemane Men’s Choir.

Sarah Ford is Missionary Ministry president. Dr. Clary Phelps is pastor.

Men’s Day at Love Christian Center

EAST SPENCER — Men’s Day at Love Christian Center, 102 N. Long St., is Sunday at 4 p.m. The speaker will be Carl Grey, anointed teacher, psalmist, spiritual shepherd and pastor of New Life Community Church in East Spencer.

Grey holds a doctorate degree in sacred music and was the minister of music at several churches in North Carolina and South Carolina, including the Men’s Department of University Park Church in Charlotte. In 2013 he was installed as the pastor of New Life Community Church.

Revival at Always Hope Baptist Church

Community tailgate event at Mt. Vernon 

CLEVELAND — The Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church is sponsoring a Gospel Tailgate at the Myers Park/ Community Garden, 3760 Woodleaf Barber Road, on Saturday, June 18 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

There will be gospel music, food, poetry and a Noah’s Arch inflatable. Children’s activities also include story telling, face painting and water balloons.

The event is dedicated to the memory of the late Ruth Myers, who donated the land to the Mt. Vernon Congregation in 1975 and to the late Brenda Chunn, community garden project manager.
