SALISBURY — Police say they charged four people, three of whom are teens, in connection to a number of shots fired calls in the West End area. Officials say for the last few weeks there have been calls from concerned residents who said they heard gunshots in the area of Lloyd, Craige and West Horah streets.

Salisbury Police charged Ebin Shaheed Williams, 23, of the 300 block of South Lee Street, with misdemeanor assault on a law enforcement officer; resist, obstruct, delay an officer; communicating threats against an officer; and felony possession of firearm by a felon. He remains in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $40,000 secured bond.

Police also charged Chad Antonio Wilks, 19, of the 200 block of Lloyd Street, with misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon, felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a controlled substance schedule VI (marijuana) and misdemeanor resist, obstruct, delay an officer. He has since been released from the county jail under a $4,000 secured bond.

Timothy Dwayne Rhodes, 19, of the 300 block of Lloyd Street, was charged with misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon. He was issued a $1,000 secured bond and has since been released from the county jail.

Destini Taira Brashae Kimery, 18, of the 700 block of Tanglewood Drive, East Spencer, was charged with misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon. She has since been released from the county jail under a $500 secured bond.

Authorities received calls about people hearing gunshots near Lloyd Street and were given a description of the car — a silver Chevrolet Impala. Officers were already in the area because of prior reports of gunshots, said Police Capt. Shelia Lingle.

The vehicle was spotted with a front headlight that was out and so the officer pulled the car over. The officer smelled marijuana and one of the occupants admitted he had the marijuana and a marijuana cigarette.

Police searched the vehicle and found three handguns — a 40-caliber, a Ruger 9 mm and a Sccy 9 mm. Officers also found 8 grams of marijuana, digital scales in the pocket of the passenger side door.

When officers arrested the occupants and took Ebin Williams to the police station, he refused to sit down, kicked an officer in the head and had to be drive-stunned. Williams also had to be placed into leg shackles when he went to the Rowan Magistrate’s Office. He again kicked at officers and spit onto a window partition, Lingle said.
