RSS hires two new principals

SALISBURY — The Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education hired two new elementary school principals after a closed session Monday.

Jordan Baker will be the new principal for Millbridge Elementary. Baker has served as the assistant principal at East Rowan High School since 2012. He earned a bachelor of science n technology education from Ball State University and a master’s in school administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

According to school system officials, there were 24 applicants for this position.

Brenda Sokolowski beat out 21 other applicants for the position of principal at Mount Ulla Elementary. Sokolowski began her career at Knollwood Elementary as a classrom teacher in 1992 and began serving as the school’s assistant principal in 2012. Sokolowski earned her bachelor of arts degree in elementary education and her master’s of administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
