The Rowan County Literacy Council will hold a two-session tutor training workshop Wednesday, May 18, and Thursday, May 19, in the Hurley Room at Rowan Public Library.

Tutors are needed for all three library branches.

The training sessions will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The registration fee for these two sessions is a one-time fee of $25 to cover the cost of materials.

In order to be certified as a tutor, participants must attend both sessions.

Reservations to attend this training may be made by calling the literacy office at 704-216-8266 or by emailing dboyd@rowancountyliteracycouncil.org. The deadline to make a reservation is Thursday, May 12. Orientation materials will be sent to those who sign up with information on the literacy program and the role of volunteer tutors in helping adults to read or to learn English as a second language.

Adults 16 years and older who need help with reading or learning English can also call the literacy office for information on its program.
