SALISBURY – Attorney Glenn E. Ketner Jr., a member and past chairman of the board of trustees at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center, has received the North Carolina Hospital Association Trustee Service Award for 2016.

North Carolina Hospital Association (NCHA) is a statewide trade association representing more than 130 hospitals and health systems. The association promotes improved delivery of quality and affordable health care through leadership, information, education and advocacy in members’ interests and for public benefit. Ketner was one of five hospital trustees honored at NCHA’s annual Trustee Institute on April 23. The Trustee Service Award recognizes trustees who have made significant and unique contributions to their hospitals and the communities they serve.

“Hospital trustees are faced with a special set of challenges and demands unique to their local communities,” said William A. Pully, NCHA president. “They deserve statewide recognition for their leadership and dedication to the changing healthcare delivery system.”

“Glenn Ketner is a natural leader and has worked hard to represent our community during times of change,” said Dari Caldwell, president of Rowan Medical Center. “We are proud of his accomplishments.”

Ketner joined Rowan Medical Center’s board of trustees in 2002 and has served as both board vice chairman and chairman. In 2008, Ketner was asked to join the Novant Health board of trustees, the governing board for the entire organization. He has been pulling double duty for nine years as a trustee for both boards.

Because of his extended service on the hospital board and his many community connections, he is instrumental in helping shape hospital policies that are best for both the medical center and the community. Ketner has been a long-time supporter of the foundation at Rowan Medical Center, and he was instrumental as a fundraiser in helping build the hospice house in Salisbury.
