Rowan officials seek masked gunman in Kannapolis robbery

KANNAPOLIS — Rowan investigators are looking for a masked man who robbed a Kannapolis convenience store clerk at gunpoint Tuesday night while customers were inside.

The incident occurred at 9:15 p.m. at Watts Food Mart, 7350 Unity Church Road. The man walked into the store with a pistol and demanded money from the cash register. He left on foot once he got the money.

The man is described as between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall, about 150 to 160 pounds. He was wearing a dark-colored jacket, a gray hooded sweatshirt, a dark-colored bandanna covering his mouth, black sunglasses, a dark green UNC-Charlotte 49ers baseball cap, purple gloves and a small gray and black backpack.
