Two shot in South Craige, West Monroe Street shooting

Two men were taken to the hospital after they both were shot during an overnight incident in the 400 block of South Craige and West Monroe streets, near Livingstone College. No arrests have been made.

Salisbury Police say they received a call at 10:21 p.m. Monday about gunshots. Officials said one man was shot in the hand and the other in the leg.

Both men were taken to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center. The man who was shot in the leg was transferred to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. His injuries were not life threatening. The other victim’s injuries were not life threatening.

Witnesses said a red car, possibly a Toyota, was seen on Craige Street. A small caliber handgun was believed to be used in the shooting. Police said several shots were fired. No other details were immediately available.
